Why do they ask you what high school you graduated?

It’s the norm to list highest education and not anything below that on a resume where I am from. Was even taught in college do not put high school because that is seen as not a professional resume.

I had a few different interviews where they asked me where I graduated high school even when they know it has clearly been over a decade since I was a high school student.

Is this a question trying to gauge socioeconomic background?

Being asked the same question just different wording

At the interview was asked why I was applying there seeing as I have no related background to that field.

I told them I saw many good opportunities in this field which is why I applied.

They asked me ”what opportunities?”

“Good career opportunities.”

“Why, if you’ve had such a diverse work background do you see a good opportunity in this specific field?”

“I believe it is a stable and steady career.”

“Why do you think this job is steady and stable?”

“I can do it even as I age.”

I don’t know, I may have effed this but it felt like twilight zone.
