These are my favorite books and I’m looking for something similar
I’m not entirely sure how to describe my taste, but these are some of my favorite books because they got me deeply emotionally invested in the characters, dynamics, and atmosphere. I love yearning, tension, and slow-burn intimacy. I think what I love most about these books is that the relationships feel so tender, but also painfully heart-wrenching at the same time?
Favorites:
- Tell It to the Bees — Fiona Shaw
- The Safekeep — Yael van der Wouden
- Fingersmith — Sarah Waters
- The Priory of the Orange Tree and A Day of Fallen Night — Samantha Shannon (I absolutely love the dynamics between the love interests in both)
Other books I enjoyed:
- Breaking Character — Lee Winter
- When You Least Expect It — Haley Cass
- Listen — Kris Bryant
To add more context to my (questionable) taste: I also loved the relationship dynamic in The World to Come (I know, I know, the ending was messy).
Does anyone have recommendations for books with a similar vibe?
Thanks!
