So I am developing an app called Limited Session. It's goal is to allow you to take time off from the screen while keeping you upto date with how long you have been sitting so far.

We give you gentle nudge within regular intervals with inbuilt audio.

We currently support two techniques. One is fixed sessions with fixed intervals and then another one is pomodoro.

The above is a glimpse at pomodoro session. Please share your feedback on how does that make you feel. Do you want to try this app or you think that its just another pomodoro app?

Once a pomodoro session ends, you will see a notification for nudging you to take break. We know humans do not function like robots, so we give you flexibility to extend the current session or if you are ready, you can start the break.

If you like our concept and app, I would happy to onboard you to our waitlist on: limitedsession.com/download-for-mac/

If you aren't convinced yet or already using a pomodoro app already, we have a live app demo on our website, so you can get a feel of our app without even installing it. Do visit our homepage to start the tour: https://limitedsession.com/

The app is still under active development, and I'd love for you to be part of the journey as I build it out!

Limited Session is a lightweight macOS menu bar app that keeps you mindful of your screen time. It's designed to be strict enough to actually get your attention, but lenient enough that it doesn't feel like a punishment.

The feature I'm most excited about: custom audio recording support. You can record your own voice or any sound, and that's what plays when the break nudge shows up. A reminder in your own words hits differently than a generic ping.

But here's where it gets fun — record a message from someone you love. Your partner, your best friend, whoever has zero filter with you. And if gentle reminders aren't your thing... ask them to go full unhinged. Nothing cuts through a flow state like your partner's voice telling you to put the damn laptop down. Trust me, you will take that break.

📹 Check out the tour video to see it in action!

So i have a screen time related macos app that I have pushed to Apple App Store. And I am awaiting approval, before I start sharing the app. I was refining the app since last month. And this month I thought to myself, to not focus on building but instead promote and let the world know about the app.

So yesterday when I was renewing my Claude subscription (which couldn't auto renew for some reason), I intentionally downgraded my plan from Max (100 dollars) to Pro (20 dollars). This was done so that I focus on app promo and it doesn't require me to have the Max plan really.

But then I went to the rabbit hole of building. It started with one bug fix then another bug fix. And then rethinking one feature, discussing that with Claude to further refine the user flow and options shown to user. And i asked it to save the discussion to a document. It wrote the document and actually started implementing it in slices. And it implemented the first slice and asked me to test it. I checked it and i was hooked then on and thought why not complete this all the way.

This is when i ran out of credit and had to wait many hours before the limit reset. I thought heck with it, lets go back to Max plan. And i upgraded. And the transaction failed.

This got me back into contemplating mode and i thought to my self that this is the sign from the universe to not go into this rabbit hole again, of building feature after feature and then never really getting it in front of people.

And I am really happy that the transaction failed. And I will take month to actually work on show casing the app to the world.

Have you ever had a moment like this that forced you to change direction?
