Advice for Journal Writing

Hi, I have really bad ADHD and am notorious for never finishing personal projects. I currently only have a simple decomposition notebook with me.

I want a space or spaces where I can record the following:

Thoughts, Mental Health, Observations, Memories, etc. Would like to easily add art or photos in there. I also WANT a physical book for me to keep. I am an anthropologist in training.

A sort of “ Ethnography of my life”!

To accomplish this, I have the following:

  1. Can one journal do it all? I worry about being consistent with a journal ecosystem. Am I doing too much with one book?

  2. Digital vs. Handwritten? I know this is a handwritten sub, but what mediums? They both have pros and cons. Handwritten is better for positive memory retention. Digital is easier in formatting- but printing it out can get expensive fast! Want a hardcover.

  3. I’m the kinda person who if it’s pretty, I won’t use it for fear of ruining it. I abandoned an Italian made leather journal for this reason. I like the decomposition- but I fear it won’t stand the test of time. Any suggestions if physical is better?
I am sensory, I want to book to lay flat, no spirals, and the ability to use a variety of pens!

Thanks, and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
