How to transition into Mining/Exploration?
Recently I asked AI 'geology jobs with no engineers in sight'. Eventually i came upon greenfield geologist or junior exploration geologist.
Can anyone tell me more about these?
i'm already kind've a nomad, and wouldn't mind long shifts. I basically live in a hotel for my current job. My ideal situation would be: Do a summer in Alaska, then get hired on full time as FIFO from southwest US to Alaska, then eventually switch to FIFO Nevada.
Is this something discussed in the interview, or do i need to search out specific jobs with specific schedules?
Are these competitive or high demand?
I saw online there's literally jobs where you get dropped by helicopter, hike the Alaska wilderness, and collect rock samples... is this real or an AI fever dream?
I would love to do that a few seasons, eventually be a rig tender/project geologist

I have about 7 years experience as a survey technician/hydrologic technician for BLM & NPS.
I have a masters degree in hydrogeology.
I have Alaska wilderness helicopter experience with BLM, living in a village one summer, hiking 40lbs survey gear, shotgun, dig bar, Trimble, helicopter every day.
I'm currently a govt geologist, logging soil and rock core, overseeing a drill rig.
i know some ArcGIS and AutoCAD. I may look into the free Leapfrog tutorial.
I am planning to get PG in 1-2 years.

My concern is that private sector has very low opinion of government employees, and that i'd be starting out entry level with recent grads???
Could i come in on an accelerated track?
Any info appreciated. What kind of job would i fit well!? Thanks
