Atabey Black Ritos

Well, I was not originally intending on smoking this. Was more or less saving it for… Well, something other than today. I was doing an air exchange and accidentally dropped it on the cap. Significant crack. I got out my cigar glue and went to work. Decided to light it up because well I wanted to know if I just destroyed a $57 cigar that I have been holding onto for whatever reason. I picked it up at luxury cigar Co.. About two years ago was one of those stories where they didn’t know me yet. I walked in and asked if they had any Atabey Blacks. Prepared to settle on a Byron Elegantes. The guy walked out and said I have one for you. Awesome dude.

This Cigar is amazing. Especially with the extra two years on it. It is so smooth so chocolatey with that aged creamy funk. For me, I will probably never have the opportunity to get another one. And I’m glad at this impromptu smoke. A few people have said this is a mid Cigar, I have no idea what you’re talking about. It is so crazy good.

I have many that I’m holding onto for a special occasion. And I guess the reasoning for this one today could definitely be considered special because I could’ve ruined a cigar that I will never get again that I’ve been holding onto for no reason. Smoke um if you got um.

El pulpo

I really had to take my time with this one. It was so dark, so rich, so flavorful. Like a brick of fudge. Coffee, dark chocolate, dark soil, tamarind, and rich molasses. Some chocolate brownie, rye bread, and gritty black pepper. It was good but you have to be in the mood for a mouth full of damp earth. It was almost too much for my pallet. It was by far the richest Cigar I’ve ever had.

A much lighter profile compared to the original. Less graham cracker and vanilla, which I really enjoyed about the original. This one is good in its own nuanced way. Cedar forward, white pepper, I still got a little vanilla overall is pretty nice. I get this interesting bell pepper vegetal note along with cedar and vanilla on the finish, and creamy coffee. Yeah it was pretty good but I’m still grabbing the OG. I’ve got four more that will rest for a bit to see if it brings out more graham cracker.
