Worth It For Casual/Intermediate Play? (1st ever cue)

Worth It For Casual/Intermediate Play? (1st ever cue)

Hey everyone, I’ve been looking into getting a new pool cue and came across the Robson Executive Series Maple Cue in 19 oz (₱ 2,400 in USD its around 40 ithink) . I play mostly at local pool halls – I’m somewhere between a beginner and intermediate player, nothing too serious but I want something reliable that doesn’t break the bank.

I’ve put together some notes on what I’ve found so far, but I’d love to hear from anyone who’s actually used this model or knows more about it! Here’s what I’ve gathered:

Specs & Features:

- Material: Solid Canadian maple (shaft and butt)

- Weight: 19 oz, adjustable

- Length: Standard 58 inches

- Components: 12mm fiber ferrule, 12mm tip, stainless steel joint, PVC grip wrap, steel bumper

What I’ve heard about it:

✅ Build Quality: Seems well-made with smooth finishes and solid construction. The stainless steel joint fits tightly with no wobbling, and the adjustable weight is a nice feature to customize feel.

✅ Performance: Good balance between power and control – works well for straight shots, banks, and basic spins. The grip is reliable even with chalk or light sweat.

✅ Value: Priced around ₱2,250 which looks very affordable for what you get.

❌ Things to keep in mind:

- It’s considered a budget model, so it doesn’t have high-end features or advanced technology

- Uses standard fiber ferrule and tip – not as precise or responsive as premium options

- Basic design with limited customization

I’m wondering:

- Has anyone here used this cue? How has it held up over time?

- Would you recommend it for someone like me who plays casually but wants consistency?

- How does it compare to other budget cues in the same price range?

- Are there any issues I should know about before buying?

I’d really appreciate your thoughts, experiences, and any advice you can share! Thanks in advance 😊
