Got a Job!

Genuinely happy after 2 months search I got an offer for data scientist. I have never worked in a full time role prior (just internship and some contract work).

Here is my question, with a PhD in computing is salary of £40k a year (Not London, UK based) even good? I see roles advertising for £55k up but the response I got was almost zero and the requirements were expecting experience I simply did not have.

I feel a little bit down with salary below my “capabilities” after committing 5 years of my life to a PhD but genuinely curious what the progression in this domin looks like.

I know job search is hard in tech these days so I don’t want to sound ungrateful but grimly interested in what other people journeys looked like and how to navigate the field best early on.
