My main problem with Joe’s Story
The censorship and removal of NWIN and unforgiving girl annoy me just as normal but my main problem with the rewrites is that it is not longer from the mind of a depressed teenager. while I’m glad that Will is in a better place and is capable of aging, this album to me has always been a realistic portrayal of the feeling. It never preached or offered easy solutions (it rejects that in not what I needed, a removed track) and the ballad of the costa Concordia has made me feel seen in a way no other piece of media ever has. (Despite this the ravenous house manages to my favourite from the new album) and seeing this album shift to “you’re still growing! You just have to open your heart!” But how am I supposed to do that when I go the same room every night? The same fucking bed. And I know that these are healthy things to hear and the right things to think but it’s no longer feeling how I feel
I know that the original album isn’t going anywhere, but it’s kinda sad to see the writing shift to where I feel like I’m being spoken to by a counsellor at times over a fellow teen of denial
