Throwing some ideas out there and hoping for feedback and discussion.
For those who know the Red Rising books by Pierce Brown.
I am planning a Solar Republic Free Legion army, based on the Space Marine chapters.
Points to note:
Needs to be at least playable in casual games. Which influence some choices.
No jump packs or assualt squads for the Intercessors (Does not fit into the tech of the books for me)
On to the list ⚔️
Base units
Grey Legionarres: Intercessors
Obsidians : Wolfguard Terminators
Golds: Sanguinary Guard (capes replace the jump packs - they have grav boots 😜)
Special Units
Howlers (Scouts) : Space Wolf Kill Team
Pegasus Legion : Sternguard Veterans
Heroes
Darrow - Dante (with slingblade replacing axe)
Sevro - Lt in Reiver armour to lead the Scouts
Ragnar - Arjac Rockfist
Other units
Vindicator in stead of the Dreadnaught - Sarcophagus doesn't quite fit RS
Could then run the army as Blood Angels.
Where if I used Custodes for Golds...not so much.
Using Militarum for Greys may have been more on point, but that would leave the basic space marine units out in the cold.
