I am 11 weeks post op from my left THR. I had it done because I have TGCT (tenosynovial giant cell tumor) in that hip. The tumors come back over and over again and eat away at the bone and tissue. This is my 5th hip surgery but first hip replacement. I’ve had a hellacious recovery since this wasn’t just a standard hip replacement. My surgeon had to take a posterior approach to get all of my tumors and he used screws to secure the implant. Ever since about 2 weeks post op, two spots in my incision have continued to open up and ooze yellow, pink fluid. He thought it was a stitch trying to work its way out. Two weeks ago, he dug around in there and pulled out some stitches that were near the surface. He told me it should now heal up, but if it didn’t in a week, he wanted me to do some bloodwork to check for inflammatory markers. I did that yesterday and my CRP and sedimentation rate were normal. That is all he tested for. The incision is still oozing in the same two spots and I have a deep ache within the hip and glute with shooting pain from my groin down to my knee. I’m looking for others who have had a similar experience. Could this be a joint infection even though I don’t have a fever and my labs are normal? I’ll post a pic of my incision for opinions.
