So like, example if your school does a test just to see how you did on the unit, class test, nothing sinister, do you NEED to do good in those, or just important ones like Mock's and GSCE's

Basically at the start of secondary, I didn't do too good, I had a couple of detentions and my Grades "0-9" is my schools grading system, would be a six, continuously, however recently I've been getting 9's, and my English teacher said i'm the most intelligent for my year, sum it up?
