Samsung Foundry strike set to go ahead

Crisis talks have reportedly failed, with Samsung fab employees set to walk out for 18 days from 21st May.

Affected fabs are entering a warm down phase, with expected significantly reduced logic & memory output.

Any US fabless companies such as AMD, Nvidia, Tesla, etc - anyone using Samsung, this is a MASSIVE red flag.

Not only has Samsung been falling behind technologically, they are now running the risk of months of intermittent stop-start delays and reduced output from these strikes.

The case for US fabless designers to move to Intel Foundry has never been stronger.

I wonder if AMD or Nvidia use Samsung Korea for any logic in their CPUs or GPUs? Sucks for them if so, brace for likely reduced output. I’m not surprised that semis in general are selling off, however Intel should be the only one not affected as they do not use Samsung for any products or tiles AFAIK.

Happy gains everyone!

Let’s see where we go from here. I jotted down some thoughts to share - bit of a shorter one and less technical, but I’m stuck at work this weekend with limited time to focus - but I just wanted to get my reaction out!
