I work for one of if not the biggest spice company in the world. They are currently being sued by a former employee for unpaid wages due to a practice that still continues. We clock in at 5:30 am but prior to clocking in we must do various tasks including putting on safety gear, and standing in line to go through a handwashing station. If done correctly it takes at least 15 minutes to do all of those things so you have to be ok the building doing those things by 5:15 at the very latest. We are not paid for that time in fact you can not even enter the area where you are required to clock in without doing those things. There are other time clocks but we are prohibited from using them and are subject to disciplinary action if we do use them. And once we clock out we have to reverse the same procedure. We are also required to attend a mandatory meeting at 5:30 and required to be in our designated work areas by 5:45 but we are not paid from 5:30 to 6 and they explain it as a unpaid break. Let me mention that we do get 90 minutes worth of breaks for our 12 hour shift. I know that some of if not all of these practices are not right well atleast I don’t believe they are. What options do I have as a current employee
