Got a tip from someone to post my profile on here for more advice.

I'm mainly looking for advice on the strengths and weaknesses in my profile, and also if my college list is realistic or not. Thanks in advance!

Major: Biomedical Engineering

Demographics: Female, NYC, attend top arts school in city, single parent household.

Grades: No class rank, GPA: 94.6 (UW), 95.2 (W)

APs: 5 APs Total: AP World History (4), AP Biology (No Score), AP Calculus AB. Senior year will be AP Calculus BC and AP Physics 1.

Dual Enrollment: Did dual enrollment at CCNY in Pre-Calc, Physics 1, Human Biology.

School doesn't allow APs freshman year, and only 1 sophomore year. AP Physics 1 is the highest I can reach for Physics, and BC for math.

SAT: 1210...I'm retaking this, really hoping for a 1400+ even better if 1450+

Essay: I'm not sure yet, but I've been floating around the idea of the connection between music and biomechanics.

ECs:

  1. Percussion since age 6 and majoring in music at hs.
  2. Volunteering at local hospital doing data analysis and guiding visitors (around 200 hrs so far), been doing it since last summer and will this summer. I'm really hoping I can hop onto their biomedical engineering dept at the hospital...if not maybe patient care since I'm interested in doing clinical engineering.
  3. Been alumni advisor for my middle school's newspaper for 3 years and I've been a part of it since 7th grade. I'm mainly there for advising and I train their Editing Team and new staff every year. I also helped launch a pie contest donation drive, raised a good amount of money to donate dental goods to charity.
  4. Help at my parent's printing biz fixing machines, printing, and deliveries.

Everyone's been telling me the best part of my application is long term commitment to a select few things...but I don't really know if those are good enough because none of what I do has a clear path to engineering.

Schools:

Reach: Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon, Boston Uni

Target: Pitt, Penn State, Binghamton, Stony Brook, Purdue, Virginia Tech, Rutgers

Safety: SUNY Buffalo, CUNY CCNY, Drexel (maybe)

If this is unrealistic what schools would realistically give me a chance? Thanks in advance!
