Buying decision: can Even G2 Terminal Mode use a USB-C mic on iPhone?
I’m considering buying the Even Realities G2 glasses with the R1 ring, mainly for Terminal Mode with an iPhone.
My buying decision mostly depends on one thing:
Can Terminal Mode use an external USB-C microphone connected to the iPhone as the voice input source?
For example, if I plug a USB-C lav mic, headset mic, shotgun mic, or noise-cancelling microphone into my iPhone, can Terminal Mode use that mic for voice commands instead of the built-in G2 glasses microphones?
I work in a very noisy factory/CNC environment, often around 85–90 dB.
I’m concerned the glasses mic alone may not reliably pick up my voice.
So I’m trying to confirm:
Does Terminal Mode always use the G2 glasses mic for voice input?
Can iPhone audio input be routed into Terminal Mode?
Has anyone tested this with a USB-C mic on iPhone?
Has anyone used Terminal Mode voice input in a loud factory/workshop environment?
Are there any official workarounds, settings, or planned updates for choosing the mic source?
If anyone from Even Realities sees this, I’d really appreciate an official answer. This feature is basically the deciding factor for whether I buy the G2 + R1 setup.
I’m not expecting the glasses mic to perform miracles in 90 dB noise. I just need to know whether I can use a better external mic through the iPhone for Terminal Mode input.
