Houston behavioral euthanasia

Hi! I am in Houston Texas and trying to find a place to put down my aggressive reactive dog. It has just become to much and have had both of our trainers suggest this. I even had a family member pull me aside and suggest this because of the mental toll it’s had on me. I have emailed numerous places and have either been told they cannot with a behavioral dog or not responded. So if anyone can suggest some in Houston or I’ll even drive to Austin. My dog is aggressive to men so finding women has also been a challenge

Does not for behavior:

Safe haven

Elite animal hospital

Gulf coast veterinary specialists

Montrose veterinary clinic

Places I never got a response back:

Nottingham animal clinic

Vergi 24/7

Woodlake vet

Heartstrings in home euthanasia services

Panther creek pet clinic

Champion forest vet

Willis emergency animal clinic

West Alabama clinic

Cawlm veterinary hospital

Heart strings in home euthanasia service

Angel oaks

I have heard from but the price is so high I’m trying to find other options:

West Davis vet - over $600 for euthanasia + cremation

Found some in Austin but would rather somewhere in Houston but will drive out there. So for my Austin people these do work with behavioral dogs

ATX animal clinic (range was $200-$700 including cremation)

Pet smart veterinary services $120 for exam and euthanasia

Cold weather

Hi I am going in the beginning of August. I am trying to pack for all weather but did anyone have any must haves for any of the cold weather on the peaks or was it not as cold? I have a fleece jacket, hoodie, two raincoats (one thicker than the other), headband that covers my ears, and gloves I plan to bring

Reactive dog

Hi! I have had my reactive dog for 8 years and it seems to be getting worse and isolating and really bad on my mental health. I feel completely isolated. We’ve been with a stable trainer for 7 years and had 3 others prior to her. My great aunt recently passed away last week. I felt so guilty because I was never able to visit her as much. My mom and our trainer are the only ones who can watch my dog. And obviously my mom is always visiting my great aunt. It’s a 3 hour drive away. Our trainer is 2 hours to opposite way (yes I drive 2 hours to board him every time I do anything). My mental health has gone done so many times because of the trials of working with my reactive dog. I can’t bring him with my to family visits as everyone is scared of him and he lunges and growls at them. I’ve been crying all week from this passing and feeling guilty from not spending more time with her. I also cannot just get a hotel and leave him there while I visit her because he howls and has still after 7 years really bad separation anxiety. I’m just at my end with him. I feel resentment from missing out of spending time with my family especially not that she’s passed. Which I’m just emotionally not handling well anyway. I’ve talked to our trainer and was told to just deal with it until he passes or BE. I feel isolated, guilty from missing out with family, and just emotionally exhausted. I’ve been having break downs even prior to this passing for almost 4 months because I just can’t deal with this anymore after 8 years. Has anyone done BE due to mental health?

What to do

Hi. I have a reactive dog for 7 years. He was great the first year I had him and I adopted him at 3 months from the shelter. We did hikes, I brought him everywhere and really watched training videos on how to properly socialize him. One day he just flipped and it’s never been the same. I was 21 when I got him and paid for a trainer and even took up a whole extra job to just pay for the trainer. We’ve had 4 trainers and stuck with one for 7 years. He doesn’t have an aggressive bite history but I’m sure if I wasn’t careful enough he’d attack another dog or person. I constantly am hyper aware and watching him in all situations. My family and friends are scared of him and refuse to let him warm up to him. Which he is scary so I don’t blame them We have good days and worse days. I have always felt so isolated. No one can come over, walks are stressful, separating him from family members/their dogs. He’s really good alone. But that’s the thing he needs to be alone. In his dream life he’d be isolated with a woman (he doesn’t like men) and live in the woods probably. But realistically I’m in my 20s. I want to be social and the isolation has effected my mental health so badly. I’ve had multiple break downs including one leading to me having to be moved in with my parents to be watched extensively for two years with therapy and medication while they helped me with him. It’s been 7 years and I just want to walk outside with him without him freaking out, without looking over my shoulder, and his reactively has been getting worse. I’ve been working with him for 7 years and the past 6 months every time we leave the house I just break down and cry. I’m breaking down every single time we leave the house but I can’t just isolate him. I came to conclusion I need to rehome him I just cannot keep up financially with his training or emotionally or mentally. No shelter will take him and would most likely immediately euthanasia him. The trainers we worked with in the past won’t take him and all have told me realistically either I keep him or euthanasia him or wait for him to pass. I feel horrible but my mental health cannot withstand this any longer. I feel awful and break down crying thinking of even thinking about euthanasia. I only ever see people needing it for aggressive bite histories. Has anyone thought of BE for your own mental health?
