Spinny is sponsoring India series now?? When did that happen

I am not really a cricket fan anymore. The 2022 FIFA World Cup pulled me into football, and now I'm the guy watching live matches at 3 AM. Rohit and Kohli retiring from T20s and Tests didn't help either, though I'll admit the poster of Rohit pulling his CEAT bat to send one over the boundary is still up on my bedroom wall.

I still follow Cricbuzz on Instagram out of habit, which is how I noticed Spinny sponsoring the recent India vs Ireland series. And that is why i am posting, because this is now the third time this brand has crossed my radar:

  1. First on India's Got Latent S1
  2. Then Sachin Tendulkar as their brand ambassador
  3. Now a title sponsorship for an India series

I dug around a bit and found out they're among the top used-car companies in India per Persistence Market Research. I already knew about Cars24 and Maruti True Value, but Spinny wasn't on my radar until my ex-love for cricket accidentally introduced me to them.

I'm not here to promote them, I genuinely gain nothing from this. I'm just curious:

For current cricket lovers, i have some questions -

how did they get to India-series-sponsor money this fast, and is cricket sponsorship actually working for used-car brands, or are we watching another Byju's-style overspend in slow motion?

Spinny vs Cars24, used to work at Spinny

Disclosure: ex-Spinny employee, currently work at Cars24 so factor that into everything below.

The thing most people don't realize until they're actually in the process is that Spinny and Cars24 work pretty differently. Spinny buys the car first, fixes it up, and only then lists it, so literally everything you see on there has gone through the same 200 point check.

Cars24 is more of a mix, some cars are theirs and some are just listed by other sellers through them, so the inspection depth can vary a bit depending on which one you're looking at. Not saying that's a dealbreaker, just something worth knowing before you assume every listing is equally vetted.

Price wise, Spinny is fixed, what you see is what you pay. You also get a 5 day window to return the car if something feels off, plus a warranty depending on which tier the car falls under.

Honest downside though, because everything has to go through that buy-refurb-relist cycle, Spinny's inventory moves slower and is smaller at any given time compared to Cars24, which has way more listings live since it's pulling from both its own stock and other sellers.

Anyway figured I'd share since most of the comparison posts online barely scratch the surface. Happy to answer anything if you're stuck deciding.

Upgraded From My Father's Maruti 800 to a 2022 Hyundai Venue From Spinny

Finally sold my father's 1999 800 (That was second hand as well) with 2022 Hyundai Spinny.

Car is in good condition, thinking of making some modifications in terms of seat cover and audio system (Will see, even aftermarket quotes are expensive, maybe will go to Delhi. Plus, financed a small portion of the car.)

Family felt, We don't need that big of a car as we are a family of 5, but I really like the look and feel of the Venue. Bought for 7 Lakhs after some negotiations.

Did my due diligence, checked service records, manually verified it from service center, and even took a mechanic as others advised me on Reddit.

Will take her to Moti Dungri soon. Maybe I will post some more photos, my friends want me to take them to the mountains, but I am not sure if I am ready for that.

Is it a good deal? Does anyone have any questions?
