Almost a year ago now in August of last year I tripped over a shoe and earned myself my first broken bone and my first ever surgery. I had dislocated my first metatarsal, torn my ligament, broke 2 and fractured 3 cuneiforms. In October of last year I opted for fusion with permanent hardware. After that I dealt with some pretty nasty nerve pain and no progress with PT. In April of this year I had the hardware removed and it’s been an uphill battle since. I asked my surgeon if I could keep my hardware after removal because I wanted to make jewelry out of it ! Today I finally did that :) I turned my screws into charms hanging from where they were holding my plate in place !!!

Here’s to a speedy recovery for everyone in this group. If there’s any advice I could go back and tell myself it would be; be patient with yourself… it won’t be easy at all. there will be good days and there will be bad days, but that’s okay. dont compare your story to anyone else’s. your injury is unique to you and your healing is your own process. it may take longer than others and it also may go way faster than others. pat yourself on the back and know in the end you will get through this. i’m still in pt twice a week and still struggle with mundane tasks in my day to day life. this injury is serious and it takes a lot to get through, but keep your head up and stay strong. you’ve got this !!!! 🫶🖤
