Trying to remember another case where the murderer used a Mattock type of tool to kill his victims.

I read about this case online awhile ago. I believe this happened in the 90s but could've been anywhere from the 80s to early 2000s. I think this happened in Texas but I may just have Texas in my mind because the killer wore a cowboy hat. He hung around in bars. I think this was a serial killer that was sentenced to death but I'm not sure if he was actually executed.

This guy murdered two or three women with a mattock type of tool. I remember being shocked at his cruelty. He would lure these women into a room in a house and kill them with this mattock type of weapon. The killer was a white man in his 30s or 40s. I know I don't have much info to go on but thought I'd post and see if anyone knows what case this is.

Trying to remember a case

I saw this case on Unsolved Mysteries a long time ago and I'm trying to remember what case it is. A man raped his sister in law. He blindfold her and put her in his car on the floor of the passenger seat. The victim recognized that it was her brother in-law. I can't remember if he murdered her or not but he was caught and went to prison. He would up escaping and went to visit his kids one time and disappeared. I believe this case happened in the 80s and I saw it on UM in the 90s.
