In between cases, the resident told me to go get lunch and meet back at a set time. I wasn't particularly hungry but I was tired AF so I went to one of the admin hospital wings that doesn't get much foot traffic and took a nap in an this chill atrium area with my neck pillow and sleeping mask.

Well I guess the resident went there to take a phone call or something and came across me napping. They woke me up (rude IMO) and went on this tirade about how "there's no napping in surgery" and how that "if I need a nap as a student there's no way I'll survive residency" and a bunch of other nonsense. He also said I was being deceitful since he told me to get lunch and went to nap instead and alluded to mentioning all this when the PD asks about me.

I kind of realize my chances of matching here are toast and I figure that I must've done something else to upset this resident, but I'm curious if I'm really in the wrong here? Is napping during lunch really so taboo?

I’m on my FM rotation and this morbidly obese lady came in for a well woman exam. I tried to break the ice with some lighthearted humour by saying “Well, what brings you in today, fatso?” Unfortunately, she didn’t seem to get the joke and stormed off. I dont think she understood that teenage girls are my people. She even reported me to the clinic and now admin is threatening me with dismissal. They don’t understand that I’m attracted to both men and women, so I think once I explain that it’ll be okay? But i’m still worried if that doesn’t work. Maybe they can’t dismiss a student on vent? Hope it doesn’t come that, but would love some advice!

Kinda freaking out right now. Im on a sub-I and the residents organized a little get-together at a bar last night with the residents and other sub-Is. Well about 2 hours in I try to get a drink from the bar and the bartender tells me I've been cut off. I wasn't even particularly drunk and hadn't had that much, but I didnt want to create a scene since two of the other residents almost certainly overheard. I've had today off and have been freaking out all day. Im worried that this is going start a rumor about me and Im not sure how to address it. Should I try to bring this up the residents? Maybe just probe them to see how much they heard? Feeling like my chance of mathcing here are going down the drain ugh.

I know I’m supposed to focus on myself but I just started my sub I and noticed today the other visiting sub I brought her own loupes and now I’m panicking/feeling like I’m unprepared. This is odd right? Or are surgery sub Is supposed to have loupes?

People will think you’re mourning a patient. Might even commend you for your empathy. Wish I knew this life hack earlier.

Saw a patient in clinic and asked them to put a in a good word for me when the attending comes in. Well this bozo tells the attending that I asked them to do that, and now the attending is pissed at me. And now I’m pretty sure have to go to some stupid professionalism counseling 🙄🙄 FML
