Is Phonk/Memphis Rap really dying?
I feel like phonk is dying because of Brazilian funk and shit. It's all just noise, and many people seem to mix up phonk with Brazilian funk to the point where they hate the genre and make fun of it. At this point, I don't even know if Brazilian funk is an actual genre. It feels more like distorted house kicks with vocals, and they all sound the same.
Phonk is supposed to be a gritty subgenre of hip-hop with a bit of lo-fi influence, but seeing the genre's image get ruined because of this really sucks. What do you think?
(Correct me if I'm wrong.)
