NEU MSCS vs Texas A&M MSCE

I’m a domestic student trying to decide between Northeastern and Texas A&M.

My main considerations right now:

  • NEU has strong co-op opportunities and the advantage of being in Boston
  • TAMU seems to have a stronger overall engineering reputation
  • NEU would cost around $20–25k more than TAMU
  • I’ve also seen a lot of discussion online about NEU being a “cash cow” because of class sizes and aggressive expansion, so I’m unsure how much that reputation matters in industry

I’m mainly targeting software engineering / AI related roles after graduation, not really aiming for academia or a PhD at the moment.

Would appreciate perspectives on:

  • actual recruiting outcomes at both schools
  • whether NEU co-op is worth the extra cost
  • reputation differences in industry
  • long-term ROI
  • if TAMU’s MSCE would limit SWE opportunities compared to NEU MSCS

[Admissions Advice] NEU Mscs vs BU MET Mscs

I received admits for MSCS from Northeastern University and Boston University MET, and I’m trying to decide between them.

NEU has offered me a 20% scholarship, which would cost around 35k-45k, which will be affordable, while BU MET would cost around 80k USD, which will require me to take out a loan. Is a BU degree worth the extra cost.

My main goal is to work in the industry after graduation

From my research, NEU seems stronger, as BU MET is mainly for part-time professionals.
