Recently bought a 1930s English tutor. As the pic shows, there are gaps in sections of the hard wood flooring that are set away from the wall…so much so that you can look into the basement in some areas.

Is there any proper way to fill/fix these gaps? I’m mainly trying to keep basement air/smells from rising through these gaps without making it look bad.
