Shipping out on Monday, I was wondering when do I get to start my contributions and how? Also heard to max it out on day 1. Any advice would be appreciated

I always see people say to pack light for BMT because the stuff they issue you will be taking up that space in your personal bag after BMT, but what exactly are those stuff that they issue that’ll be taking up that much space in your personal bag aside from the backpack and duffle bag that they issue you?

I was supposed to ship out on May 19 on a Tuesday but got contacted by my recruiter that my shipdate is an early ship week to which they changed it to May 18 on a Monday instead. This is the first time I’m hearing about early ship week and shipping out on a Monday. Is this normal? Does anyone else have the same situation?
