terminal ileum inflammation (20cm) and international travel coming up :(

Hi everyone..

So I'm new here.

I'd been unwell for a few weeks, lower right pelvic pain, that eventually became my abdomen as well. It was torture standing up and walking- I'd have to be holding my stomach and walk hunched over and slowwww.. I'd have to hold the right side of my pelvis when peeing too..

Doctor wasn't really listening, so I presented to the A&E Monday afternoon.. blood test showed an infection that was "off the charts". CT scan showed 20cm of inflamed intestines, and a "small hole".

I've been on IV antibiotics (PipTaz-AFT).. And since yesterday I've been able to sit up in bed without the pain! Wow!! Last night I had a solid sleep (well as solid for a hospital haha)..

I went from being told I'd need emergency surgery to a "wait and see" approach.

Only issue is, the doctors here aren't answering my questions either.

I have an international flight on June 11. All they're saying is to cancel the flights.

I've asked them what would happen if I flew, explained it's not so easy to cancel with the plans that have been made etc.

Clearly had I never presented to the A&E I'd have boarded the flight anyways but been much more worse for wear.

Is air travel truly an issue in our situation? I asked how big the "hole" is, and have just been told it's "small", and there's a small pocket of fluid, but my body has walled it off.

They won't do a repeat scan to see how things are prior to discharge.

In hospital with a walled micro perforation

I'd been complaining to my doctor for 3 weeks. It was pain whenever I ate, and I couldn't get comfortable in bed without pain, I'd get out of bed having to clutch my abdomen and walk hunched over. Weird pressure/pain when peeing.. I'd have to press in on my right side people peeing to try to lessen the pain.

Eventually I had enough. I have a trip to London coming up (June 11). So I presented to the A&E.

After waiting 8 hours for a bed, they told me I had an infection but didn't know the source. Had a CT scan and X-ray.. and apparently have 20cm of inflamed lower intestine and a micro perforation which is contained.

So I've been on IV antibiotics since 1am Tuesday morning, and a clear diet.

It went from "yes you need surgery" to "wait and see".

Whilst I have no abdominal pain now, except for lower at times (and still when I pee).. I believe I feel better.

Is it possible for micro perforations to heal on their own?

And is holding off the trip truly necessary if things are going well with antibiotics?

Time frame to clear customs at Heathrow from T5?

Just wondering what your experiences have been recently!

I'll only have carry on.

Landing at 5:35am.

And wondering if the train is easy to find amongst all of this.. apparently I can get that from T5 as well

Will norethindrone pill stop breakthrough bleeding? (Have an important trip coming up)

I'm post menopausal. Been on the estradiol norethindrone patch 50/140 for 6 months next month.

Have had breakthrough bleeding throughout.

Doctor says wait until 6 months.

But I have an important event coming up, where I don't want to be bleeding. Will increasing the patch, to 50/250 help? Or taking a norethindrone pill?

I'm desperate to stop it for even just 2 weeks.

Seeing my doctor tomorrow and just want to be heard!

Estradiol norethindrone patch- causing spotting/bleeding

I'm post menopausal, and since starting this patch in December, I've had irregular spotting/bleeding.

I'm well over it, and was wondering if I stop using the patch, will the bleeding stop?

I have an international trip coming up and don't want to worry about this nonsense.

I know my doctor will try to talk me out of stopping, but I'm well over it.

Hello everyone!

Have been on the estradiol norethisterone patch 50/140 since late December.

Would have continuous bleeding, until placed on vagifem, but I'd only stop bleeding if I'd take vagifem everyday (past the 2 week initial dose).

I'm so sick to death of the constant bleeding, and spotting. Seems to happen every 2 weeks.

I'm booked in for ultrasound at the end of the month.

I'm just wondering if any of you have gone through this. And if there's something I could ask my doctor for me to try?

I can't swallow pills hence why I'm on the patch.

Hey everyone 😊 I'm flying into Heathrow in 6 weeks, yay! It's my first time in the UK, and I need to get a train to Peterborough upon clearing customs.

I'll only have carry on luggage. My flight lands at 5:30am, and I'm just wondering if that's a busy time to arrive, and the easiest way to navigate through.

Is it better to book the train/tube in advance?
