Was it awkward when the Emperor's Children showed up at Isstvan V?

Over the past year I've been getting into the 40k hobby and listening to the audio books has been a great way to absorb a lot of the universe's lore. I've been alternating between Horus Heresy books and other series like Eisenhorn, Cain, etc.

A little while ago I finished the Fulgrim book (2007) from the HH series. Now, since I'm still relatively new to the 40k universe I don't really know much about how/when each traitor legion fell into the clutches of the chaos gods.

>!Obstensibly, the other traitor legions at Isstvan V haven't been described as being super evil and corrupted by the warp at Isstvan V (at least from what I've read so far). It seems like they're all just regular space marines following their primarchs/Horus for political reasons (i.e. anti-Imperium). Except, the Fulgrim book describes how the Emperor's Children were fighting at Isstvan V after their huge blood orgy on their ship, with their troops being covered in the flayed remains of remembrancers or having their jaws wired open and eyelids missing and so on.!<

>!It made me chuckle imagining a couple of regular traitor astartes from the Sons of Horus or Death Guard making plans for defenses at Isstvan V and then seeing the Emperor's Children walk up looking like extras from the set of Hellraiser. Definitely a "Are we the baddies?" kind of moment.!<
