How long for a stray dog to decay
There are a lot of stray dogs where i live. Seems one of em up and died in an out-of-the-way location and is currently being eaten by flies. I found it pretty fresh, maybe a day or so after it died. It was FULL of flesh flies and such, and the intestines had ruptured and were spilling out, so i said no thank you to cutting it up right then and there and decided to wait. I dragged it to a semi-good hiding spot. It's now been just over a week. Where I live it's summer, and the temps have been around 90 degrees fahrenheit. After the first week, the smell stopped being noticeable unless youre right next to it. I want those bones very badly, but im worried someone elsell find it. How long till this dog is eaten up and decayed to a point where its mostly dry? It doesnt need to be all bones, i know that takes years. But just dryer. Less dead dog juices and less flies. Seriously there must have been hundreds or thousands. Or do i just need to put on my big girl pants and a bunch of ppe and dump the whole nasty thing in a bucket?
The dog was probably about 60 pounds in life. It's 80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit here with decent humidity. Its right near some stagnant water but its on dry land. It's been about 2 weeks since it died, i think. What kinda timeline am i looking at? Thanks in advance
