Getting started?

Sorry for the random post! I hope it's ok!
I'm new to the sub and new to narrowboats in general to be honest.
I have been watching a lot of youtubers and the like who are narrowboat owners and as an avid nomadic type myself, I have developed a real interest in buying a narrowboat someday to live on so I can get out of the city as often as possible.
I would like to ask as a first timer, where do I start? I live in the south west of the UK , near Bristol, and I have been looking at some of the boats out there.
My current budget would be within the 30k mark if possible so possibly looking at an older build and smaller size, potentially 35 ft I guess.
My question is, is this a realistic budget to have right now, or am I expecting way too much? I just want a boat that runs and can be lived on, even if a little rough around the edges,
I don't know any narrowboat owners directly myself so I'm struggling to find decent sources of genuine advice and would appreciate any pointers at all.
