Scotland - FSF for job interview travel denied
I've been on universal crwdit and job hunting for a few years now. I recently was offerred a job interview for a job with the FCDO. The only issue is that they require an in person interview (I'm assuming because of needing to verify documents to run a DV check). I asked my current work coach about assistance for travel from Aberdeen, where I currently reside, to London.
Initially it seemed hopeful. We went through the process of verifying that I did in fact have a job interview with the FCDO and that it was required to be in person.
A couple weeks later at my next scheduled appointment he mentioned they were going tobapprove it and travel would be by bus and he was still looking into accomodation as initially i was told it would not be covered but when i flagged that it was not possible to go down and back they agreed to look at accomodation.
The first issue arised when i flagged that the bus is not a suitable option due to my disability. I explained why but was effectively ignored and none of what i said seemed to be aknowledged beyond a simple "it must be the cheapest method for the taxpayer." At the end of the call he said he would look in to hotels accomodations to quote an acceptable budget.
Shortly after i recieved a message in my journal stating that they would not provide any funding assistance with no further explanation. I pushed asking for it to be reconsidered restating my needs due to my disability and then recieved. A few days later, and after a brief back and forth about wanting more informarion on my intentions on moving to london and daily travel, i recieved a response from the team leader that they were denying it due to suitable local opportunities available.
I have been on UC and unemployed for a few years now and previous work coaches have encouraged me to expand my job search to other regions where i would be comfortable moving to. I have not once asked for any extra support and the one time i do the response i get seems totally uncoordinated and fishy.
Any advice on what to do going forward. I most likely will have to miss this interview as the date is too close and prices are now ridiculous but i want to make sure next time this happens i am prepared because something feels off about the process.
