I saw this on Etsy and liked the look. Im making a guitar strap for my nephew and trying to figure out how to achieve a splotchy look similar to this. Do you:

• dye the leather a base coat and sponge on a resist in just the middle, then dye black?

• Or do you just sponge on the black around the edges with no resist involved?

I’d appreciate any insight on how to do something like this!
