Why are my metrics so weird
I’m a throwing athlete and I record and edit my throws to post to YT shorts, I’ve tried a bunch of different ways to edit them to stand out, I reduced the time to were the average view duration is almost the entirety of the video, so I know there’s only so much I can do with this footage, at the end of the day not everyone wants to watch a throwing practice, even if it’s just the best throws. I have tried different angles, gimmicks like chess.com analysis icons, “hype edit” styles of editing, and just regular plain footage.
My metrics say that I have a 60-90% average view duration, decent engaged viewer rate ~ 40-60%, but my likes are super low, below 1% and it’s rare I get comments. I just want to know what I can do to improve and what metric I should be focusing on. The shorts tend to float around 1 k views, which I know is the standard “testing” period, is it just luck that it breaks out of it or am I doing something wrong?
