Suggestions for upgrading from RT-AC86U
I've been using an RT-AC86U on Asus-Merlin since 2020 and been happy with it. Now that it's EOL, I'd like to upgrade my main router to a more modern version. I was hoping there would be a trivial pick among the recent ASUS routers, but reviews seem to be not great on many of them.
Router is in basement (Floor 0). The house goes to Floor 3, but I plan to use the RT-AC86U in AP mode on 3rd floor, connected via MoCA (GoCoax). Mix of laptops, iPads, Pixel 9/10 phones, IoT devices including cameras. Mainly streaming and teleconference usage, plus son occasionally doing some PC gaming. Current provider is Astound on 500Mbps, but I'm thinking of switching to FiOS 1Gig (I thought they interacted badly with MoCA but it doesn't seem to be the case anymore).
I'm currently thinking RT-BE88U might be a good option. RT-BE90U is for some reason $100 cheaper on Amazon, but brand new so more of an unknown.
Any suggestions? Wait a couple of months to see how the RT-BE90U does?
