Best books with the Vietnam war/radical 60s as a backdrop.

The title explains it, I just finished Dog Soldiers by Robert Stone and I loved the vibe. I have read tree of smoke by Dennis Johnson, and Libra by Don Delillo, I’m currently reading Days of Rage by Brian Burrough and Kill anything that moves by Nick Turse. I find that time in Americas history so interesting and I can’t get enough of it. I also love the CIA and other Alphabet agencies story lines.

I’m open to anything that fits that description fiction or nonfiction, the war doesn’t even have to make an appearance. Thanks in advance!

I mean damn….

I have seen this book mentioned in just about every Reddit group and I didn’t think it would live up to the hype. It did I’m not well, won’t be the same for a while. If you haven’t read it please do. I drive a dump truck for a living and I had to pull over because I was crying that says a lot coming from a 34 year old guy. This quote ripped my heart out.

“I don’t know what’s worse: to not know what you are and be happy, or to become what you’ve always wanted to be, and feel alone.”

I have been reading Faulkner’s biography by Jospeh Blotner and I was trying to find some of his poetry, got this in the mail today! So excited to add this to my growing Faulkner collection. Next thing to find is a nice hard cover edition of Mosquitoes.
