2025-2026 Cycle: Stats + Honest Reflections for Anyone Still in the Trenches

2025-2026 Cycle: Stats + Honest Reflections for Anyone Still in the Trenches

Officially accepted this cycle and wanted to share my breakdown for anyone who needs it.

My stats: GPA: 3.71 | sGPA: 3.20 DAT: 420AA / 430TS / 500PAT Shadowing: ~113 hours Volunteering: 1,000+ hours

The breakdown: 13 applications → 5 interview invites → 1 acceptance (UOP), 3 waitlists, 1 declined interview.

What I learned:

This was my second cycle. First cycle I got zero interviews. Same stats, completely different result the second time. The only thing I did meaningfully different was how I built my school list.

First cycle I took the "apply broadly" advice literally and just submitted to as many schools as I could afford. I got ghosted everywhere. What I didn't understand is that broadly doesn't mean randomly — it means strategically across safety, target, and reach tiers based on your actual numbers.

The biggest unlock came from sitting down with my pre-health advisor. She pulled up a spreadsheet of every pre-dental student from our university going back several years — GPAs, DAT scores, where they interviewed, where they got in. She had a list of 8 programs that consistently accepted students from our school. I had never considered half of them. One of those programs is where I got my acceptance.

Most pre-health advisors have this data and nobody asks for it. Book the appointment.

Happy to answer questions in the comments or chat in DMs if anyone wants to talk through their situation.
