For Brazilians: Which president is best for the future of global politics?
I'm Irish and I'm following the euphoria of the elections in Brazil; my friends have already voted. But I wanted to know who you believe is best not only for Brazil, but for the world.
Honestly, I only hear bad things about Bolsonaro, especially during the COVID pandemic, which killed 700,000 people. But all I know is that he unconditionally supports the US, burned the Amazon, and seems fascist to me, and tried to destroying the democracy of Brazil, and are in jail right now. But I want to know the opinion of other Brazilians about him, and I can't judge him just by what I hear from friends or what I see on the internet. Especially since his son is running, and I'd like to know if he is at least a little different from his father on these political issues.
The vast majority of them support Lula; they say he wants a sovereign Brazil, closer to BRICS, respects human rights, and if I'm not mistaken, I saw his speech at the UN criticizing Trump and Netanyahu, which is excellent. It's great to see a president who positions himself like him. But I'm also a bit hesitant about certain topics he seems to avoid addressing. Especially dictatorships around the world. What does he think about the murder of women in Iran? Regimes like North Korea? And Putin's invasion of Ukraine?
I want to hear from Brazilians here.
