We recently got a couple of used wine barrels from a whiskey distillery that we'd like to use to collect rain water for our garden. Is there anything we should do to the wine barrels for this use? I mean other than a good cleaning haha. We're also thinking about using some to store drinking water too.

I checked and its legal to collect rain water where I live.
