someone read my essay and tell me if it’s good (FLE 0500)

When Mr. Kennedy entered my office, his eyes red and sweat dripping from his forehead, I realised it was my responsibility to take his case.
"I- I heard you're a good lawyer... Can you help me?" His fingers were fidgeting anxiously.
"Sure. Calm down. Tell me everything."
Mr. Kennedy's voice was trembling as he sat on the leather chair in my office. He lived in an apartment building where a murder had taken place the day he was visiting his friend out of town. The police were waiting when he came back, claiming the murder weapon was found in his room. I gathered all information from him and set to work.
Being a lawyer had been everything to me. Thousands of convicted innocents wrongfully get sentenced. I wanted to be the one who changed the system, brought back justice. Endless nights were spent on Mr. Kennedy's case, gathering evidence, questioning people, finding witnesses. I ran on coffee and nothing else for a week straight to prepare for the trial.
My life's purpose became winning this case. Lack of sleep and overworking lead to sunken eyes. I could hear my secretary begging me to take a break, but the court wouldn't wait for me.
The day of the trial arrived. My facial expression was the epitome of serenity, masking the turmoil underneath for the sake of my client. Bang!
"Order in the court!" It was starting. Anxiety coiled tight in my stomach, waiting to snap at the smallest hindrance. The atmosphere was tense, everyone holding their breath and staring at Mr. Kennedy. The prosecutor stood, his neatly trimmed beard and ironed suit a great contrast to my disheveled state.
He presented the "evidence" clearly, almost winning over the jury, but I was ready. I presented the case flawlessly, and it was time to verify Mr. Kennedy's alibi, that he was with his friend that night. His friend stepped up to be a witness, his eyes were glazed over and palms were sweaty. I was confident that we would win.
"Your Honour... Leon Kennedy was not with me that night." Silence.
"Excuse me? What are you...?" I could hardly get the words out.
"Order in the court!" Bang! A pause followed. I was losing composure.
"The verdict is in... Mr. Kennedy, you are... guilty." My eyes widen as I turn to Mr. Kennedy. Tears stream down his face as he turns around and says,
"Thank you for believing in me..." Those were his last words before he was escorted out.
That was when I broke. His friend had been bribed and he took it. I quit shortly after. That case had broken me. I realized I was naive. I could never fix a system that didn't want to be fixed.
Justice is dead.
