Which everyday home goods have you completely given up finding a quality version of?
I'm a UK industrial designer and something that's been frustrating me more and more is how much greenwashing is out there. Every brand seems to be slapping eco-credentials on products that still end up in landfill after a couple of years. The more I look at it the more I think genuine durability is the only sustainability argument that actually holds up — if it lasts twenty years it doesn't matter what the packaging says.
I'm increasingly interested in designing things that are genuinely built to last rather than just marketed that way. Would love to know where you think the real gaps are — the everyday home goods where a proper BIFL option either doesn't exist or is nearly impossible to find.
What are you still replacing that you wish you weren't?
