THOUGHTS ON THE EYE ISSUE? Mo

Hey All!

I have a vet appointment scheduled for tomorrow, but I figured I’d post here to get some more thoughts.

Since last Friday, my boy has been waking up with this pale-yellow discharge from his eyes. It started with just the left eye, and it’s gradually moved over to both eyes since today — the amount looks to be less each day since it began, along with no apparent pain, and he doesn’t paw at his eyes.

My hunch is that it might have started as allergies, and progressed to an infection, as even I was feeling a bit under the weather with the slight shift in temps these past few days.

Anyway, I appreciate any and all input — thanks in advance!

Vizsla puppy nose peeling and dry skin remedy

Hi All!

Special thanks to all the help you’ve given me already in previous posts. Now that my V has finally crossed 4 months, I’m finally getting more of the hang of things, and so is he!

Anyway, I’ve noticed maybe once or twice a month my guy has a really dry nose that begins to peel. This is something definitely noticeable when I wake him up in the morning, and I once also saw his nails and one of his paws peeling a little, just a day or so after giving them a trim (pics posted).

I live in an apartment in NYC, so the air in here can get quite dry when the weather is colder out. I did notice a little bit of dandruff after I brought him home a week or two, back in April, but even my vet said that from what he sees visually, it’s nothing of a concern. Upon looking online, I’m thinking it either has to do with the dryness in the air or maybe it’s even sunburn? None of this seems to bother him, as he doesn’t scratch, lick, or paw at any of these dry areas. Along with his kibble, I give him about half a sardine each day in his diet. I know increasing his omega 3s will directly impact his skin and coat, but I also don’t want to overdo it while he’s so young.

Thanks in advance for everyone chiming in!!

Hey Everyone,

I've had my pup for a little over 3 weeks now, and I've experienced highs and lows – I'm fully aware that I haven't even experienced the worst of it, yet! Anyway, I've been doing pretty good with having him awake and active for a hour or so, then sleeping in his crate for about 2-3 hours. At night, he's fine, but during the day, the little guy is hellish when it comes to settling in his crate. I've got some puppy toys in there to help with teething, and this pinecone-like toy that allows for treats to be placed on one end to give him some sort of mental stimulation with the added reward.

During the day, I place him in his crate after training and going potty, but it's rare that I can get him to go in his crate and actually rest. Vocal protest from him is totally normal at his age, a little chaos in his crate as well. He just happened to tear up his bed that came with the crate and I've since removed it to ensure that he doesn't eat any of the foam.

Anyway, I know I'm not perfect nor am I an ace at this, but I'm totally giving it my best effort. It's perfectly understandable for him to want to be at my side or have a visual of what I'm doing, but I'm worried that long-term he just won't like his crate... If anyone has any tips of tricks on how they got their V to settle while in the crate, please let me know.

Thanks in advance!
