What’s your experience with sap support?

I feel like it’s a mixed bag.

Sometimes we get a good person and are offered a solution quite quickly.

Other times it feels like a fight to convince them there’s an issue.

But I think the most annoying part is that we often have 24 hour delays between messages because of time zone differences - we can never be online at the same time so issues drag on for weeks.

I wish local support was a thing …

SAC app displays S4 data faster than S4 FIORI app

We did a test today of SAP Analytic Clouds Data Analyzer app vs the S4 Multi-Dimensional FIORI WebDynPro report.

Same S4 data source (analytical query).

SAC was able to display live S4 data faster 2x faster than the FIORI Embedded Analytics FIORI Multi-Dimensional WebDynPro Analytical Query reporting application.

Can anyone explain this? How can an external to S4 app be faster at pulling data than an S4 native FIORI app?

They are both pulling from the exact same SAP standard underlying analytical query. The query is exposed to odata v2 so that SAC can see it.

This is a biggish query (ACDOCA journal entries) so we’re talking 20 seconds for SAC to display it vs 40 seconds for the S4 WebDynPro app to display it.

Both apps are SAP standard apps for displaying query data.

We always expected accessing live data in S4 to be faster than an external app, but our tests are proving otherwise.

SAP tells us to use SAC for this use case and not native S4 apps.

Are they building in app obsolescence to force us over to more expensive external tools like SAC?

Why can’t native S4 apps be faster?
