Hi everyone! I’m a few months in as an associate in orthopedics working in a territory with just my manager and I, and I’d love some advice from people with more experience.

Right now, my main focus has been getting efficient in the OR and really learning our products/procedures, but I also want to start adding value on the business side and help grow the territory.

We have a couple of surgeons we work with consistently, but there are also hospitals/accounts that are very competitor-heavy, and I’m trying to figure out how I can contribute as an associate without overstepping.

A few specific things I’d love insight on:

  • As an associate, what are the best ways to help grow a territory early on?
  • How do you become a “familiar face” in hospitals where you’re not currently established?
  • Any things you did early in your career that made a big difference long-term?

I’m not trying to sell on my own yet bviously, but I want to be intentional with how I show up and build relationships the right way.

Appreciate any advice, thanks in advance!
