diagnosed after TBI
after struggling to find an answer for 5 years I was finally diagnosed with vestibular migraines! I had felt so confused and lost about why I was feeling so different.
I was in a car accident and received a severe TBI. I was momentarily knocked unconscious and with the combination of adrenaline and poor EMT care I was sent home before being evacuated after my crash. (I was hit on all four sides and hit the median). I lost my memory for months. I couldn’t remember basic names. after a year of grueling physical therapy I was discharged.
I spend half of my week outdoors. hiking in high altitude. for the past 5 years anything above 7,000ft or heights of any kind (including bridges 2ft off the ground) causes me terrible dizziness and nausea. sometimes to the point of vomiting.
I took a gnarly fall on a 14er during a dizzy spell and quickly realized something was very much off. I’ve been to several ENTs and neurologists. Got a balance test done (that was miserable!) and they finally gave me the answer I’ve been looking for for years.
I started a vitamin regiment and PT twice a week. I’ve read up a little on the diet. mostly what not to eat.
is there any tips or tricks for managing these better? im 23, on fluvoxamine and hydroxyzine. the neurologist recommended a couples pills but i worry about combining with what i currently take.
I’ve also thought about blue light glasses. I work at a grocery store so it’s quite pharmaceutical lighting. have glasses helped anyone else?
