What should I do, dog bite incident
This was a first time experience so I thought I handled it correctly, now I’m not so sure.
a couple days ago, I go to a meet and greet to meet a dog. the woman opens the the door and I’m standing on the front porch, nonthreatening. The dog shows up at her side barking, I’m like whatever this is how some dogs greet. Then the dog lunges at me, barking, snarling, snaps at my hand, I slowly step, back, he lunges again and bites my leg, leaving punctures. the woman is standing there just like “omg sorry he never does this Idk why he did that” all the while not trying to grab her dog or remove him. she finally tells the dog to go lie down and apologizes and says she understands if I don’t want to watch him. I say no, sorry, I feel unsafe watching your dog. I immediately call rover to report the bite and takes photos and go to urgent care. Rover immediately cancels the reservation so I no longer have her information or the dogs vaccine status. I get the wound cleaned and antibiotics and I’m fine. But now I’m out the rover payment and now have an urgent care bill I wasn't expecting. I assumed rover would report the bite to the county but is that actually the case? All I have is this woman's address should I just drop my medical bill in her mailbox and hope she reimburses me? I know for next time to do things differently, but what else should I do? TIA, I will not respond to any rude comments.
