Just wondering if anyone has experienced that their morning sugars are affected by their bedtime insulin?

I’ve been going up on my nighttime insulin trying to get my fasting under control, but I’ve been noticing I can eat a lot more carbs in the morning now. Like half of a bagel or cookies - things that would definitely spike me and I am so surprised they haven’t been. In fact, I feel like I need the carbs in the morning? I actually fell down the other day and I’m not sure if it was low blood sugar because I didn’t have my CGM on and by the time I thought to test my blood sugar it was a little while after and I ate a couple things, but it was on the lower end. I was feeling kind of dizzy after the fall, but I wasn’t sure if that was a blood sugar thing or just stress (I ended up going to the hospital to check on the baby and everything was OK). But it happened on a morning where I didn’t eat some really simple carbs because I didn’t have my CGM on and I usually feel most comfortable trying things out when I can watch what’s going on.

last night I took my insulin a little earlier than I normally would have and I think that helped but I still did need carbs in the morning. I usually take it at 9:30 PM and wake up at 7AM and feel like I can feel the effects until 11 AM or so. I tried taking it at 8:30 PM And got a Fasting number that was within the range. Despite the fact, the dose was the same and I think I felt a little better in the morning.

I’ve been super hesitant to increase my nighttime insulin, because I just am feeling so weird in the mornings even though my fasting isn’t in range. I need to reach out to my diabetes doctor, but I just wanted to see if anybody had any similar experience or if I’m completely out to lunch!

thanks 🫶
