Please help, I was told yeztugo was approved by insurance...
I recently got approved for Yeztugo by my insurance and received the injection back in March. I just opened a claim from my insurance saying I owe around $4,000 for the injection, which was billed as a medical claim.
I thought PrEP was covered under the ACA and assumed the injection would be little to no cost out of pocket once it was approved. I genuinely would not have chosen the injection if I knew I could end up owing thousands of dollars. I would have just gone with the oral pill instead.
I’m honestly freaking out a bit because I cannot afford a $4,000 bill like this. I’ve never really had to deal with insurance issues before and don’t know what I’m supposed to do next.
Does anyone have any advice on what I should do? I have UHC insurance.
