Help identifying/valuing three signed Navajo/Hopi cuff bracelets — two confirmed Eveli Sabatie, one mystery signature (USA)
Hi r/antiques! I have three really striking pieces and would love the community's input. Pics attached for all three.
Piece 1 — Eveli Sabatie mosaic inlay cuff (pictograph/ toucan (?) design)
Wide sterling silver cuff with an incredible mosaic inlay depicting what appears to be a raven/bird in flight. Materials include exotic wood, bone, leather, and coral all set in a sterling silver frame. Stamped "Eveli" on the interior. Consistent with Eveli Sabatie, the French-North African artist who apprenticed under legendary Hopi jeweler Charles Loloma. Her pieces have sold $3,000–$15,000+ at auction. Does this look authentic and period-correct to those familiar with her work?
Piece 2 — Eveli Sabatie carved red coral cuff
Also stamped "Eveli" on the interior. This one is a dramatic wide sterling cuff featuring a large carved red coral face/figure as the centerpiece, with beautiful stamp work bordering the piece. Coral appears to be natural Mediterranean-quality material. Additional small coral cabochons on the sides. This one really stopped me — I've never seen anything quite like it. Any thoughts on period, value, and whether the coral carving is consistent with her known body of work?
Piece 3 — Mystery-signed reticulated silver cuff with mammoth ivory & turquoise
Heavy studio-made sterling silver cuff with a beautifully textured/reticulated surface, raised organic relief work, a large striated cream/tan stone (mammoth ivory? picture jasper?), a turquoise cabochon, and a small gold accent bead. The interior has a handwritten cursive signature but I genuinely cannot make it out. Close-up of the signature is attached.
Questions for all three:
- Any value estimates or recommended appraisers/auction houses for pieces of this caliber?
- Can anyone make out the mystery signature on the James piece?
- Is that large stone mammoth ivory or picture jasper?
Thanks so much — this community always comes through!
