Post antibiotic gut health and binge eating recovery
I had to take a 3 day course of 2 kinds of antibiotics from Saturday. I was concerned about them affecting my gut health but I do have some knowledge on gut health and focus on probiotic and prebiotic foods, fermented foods, taking aloe juice and l-glutamine in the morning and I'm also plant based so I kind of knew how to get myself back on track. Unfortunately I also suffer from binge eating disorder, and ended up having some heavy binge days, mainly on high fibre whole foods suchs as dates, cacao, oats, nut butters, etc but one day did include a meal out of pizza, a Hugo spritz, and lots of vegan milk chocolate when I got home (after a day of binging on high fibre and fat whole foods). I have had 8 binge episodes in this month alone, after being clean since November.
I'm surrendering it all to God and asking Jesus to heal me from this disorder, and I feel as though I'm being called to fast to break this food addiction and deny my flesh.
My concern is that I've damaged my gut and possibly do further damage and I don't know what the best course of action is for me. Am I best to fast 72 hours and then slowly introduce foods to build up my gut microbiome, or ignore my call to fast?
I took the antibiotics Saturday - Monday, and then these binge episodes occured Wednesday and Thursday. Its now Friday and I've not eaten yet due to fasting but I'm not sure what to do.
