Nick Drake's Guitars at FolkEast

Delighted to say that I am being interviewed by Michael Watts on 22nd August at FolkEast (11.30-12.20 on the Barn Stage), where I will be talking about my book (www.nickdraketherecordings.co.uk) and Nick's recording career. Furthermore, Michael and I will be joined on stage by two of Nick's guitars. I hope to see you there.

Thank you for the review, Dave. The hardcover book is now available again. www.nickdraketherecordings.co.uk

'There’s no doubt that Richard Morton Jack’s biography of Nick Drake is the definitive account of his life.

Now comes the definitive account of his music. The recently published Nick Drake The Recordings by Adam Foster is a work of forensic detail. Every song and every session is assessed. Add to that a log of the studio location, the recording equipment, the musicians and the instruments deployed.

The end result is a book that really does take you into the heart of the process Nick undertook to create that remarkable body of work.

It’s also superbly designed with easy to follow album by album chapters. All illustrated throughout with rare photos and cuttings. It had me taking a deep dive back into the timeless beauty of the Nick Drake catalogue.

Hats off to Adam for producing such a worthy addition to ‘’Nickology’’ as Nick’s sister Gabrielle has come to term it (a fact Richard Morton Jack reveals in his introduction to the book).

Nick Drake the Recordings is a magnificent work and has heightened my understanding of Nick’s music manifold.'

Is this 1965 Fender Champ worth £1450/$1930? Looking to use it for a delicate, fingerstyle clean tone at home.

Amp recommendation for lo-fi delicate fingerstyle electric guitar

Hi, I've been searching for a few months for an amp to complement my 1960 Fender Musicmaster. I play delicate, instrumental fingerstyle guitar, slightly lo-fi electric guitar. I don't use any pedals other than a BYOC vibrato effect I have, which actually adds a nice lofi hiss. I will mainly be using the amp at home and for recording. I have only moved over to playing electric guitar in the past 18 months, having played acoustic for the past 20 years, so I've just been using my son's Vox Pathfinder 10. My budget is around £1000. The amps I have looked into so far are:

Fender Blues Jr - may be a little icepicky from what I've read though.
Used Fender 57 custom champ - nice size and mojo, but does it stay clean for long enough?
Used Fender Princeton 65 reissue - seems to be the one most recommended.
Fender Deluxe Reverb - could be too big for home use?
Vox Ac-10 - I like the tone of the Pathfinder, so it makes sense to make that step up, but is it too bright-sounding?

I've not been able to find anywhere local that stocks too many of these amps to try. Any advice/recommendations are appreciated.
