Roast my CV – dev with some experience, currently doing Masters in Germany, struggling to get working student job. What am I doing wrong?
Hey everyone,
Been applying for working stiudent in Tech here in Germany and not getting much traction. Figured I'd post my CV here and get some honest feedback because at this point I don't know where am I wrong?
Quick background so you have context:
- ~1 years backend experience (fintech)
- Stack is mainly FastAPI, Node.js, Docker, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
- Currently doing an M.Sc. in Digital Transformation at a university in Germany — 1st semester went well (grade 1.8 )
- English C1, German A1 (working on it)
Things I'm genuinely unsure about and would love feedback on:
- Is the format/layout actually readable(I changed it, it is actually europass cv) or does it look weird to European/German recruiters? I've heard EU CVs have different expectations ?
- Am I describing my impact well enough or does it just sound like a list of tasks? I tried to add numbers where I could
- The ISO 27001 and VAPT stuff , is that worth highlighting more prominently or is it noise for most SWE roles?
- Projects section , does it add value or should I trim it?
- Anything glaringly wrong that I'm not seeing?
I've attached the CV .. Be as honest as you want, I'd rather hear it here than keep getting ghosted by recruiters.
Thanks in advance
